Okay, the headline above is a bit tongue in cheek, but seriously, if Shohei Ohtani faces more consequences a la Pete Rose (who said that if he had a interpreter, he would have gotten away with his gambling) MLB will have a problem. For those not in the loop, here is a summary of what has happened

Ever since Ohtani broke out in MLB, he has been the face of the league, in particular a league looking for international expansion. Thanks to the efforts of international stars such as Ichiro Suzuki, Daisuke Matusaka, and Juan Soto, MLB has had success in their expansion. They have a game in London, and just recently finished a exposition series between the Dodgers (which Ohtani is a part of) and Padres in South Korea.

To be clear, Despite Ohtani saying that the money he allegedly wired to his interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, was stolen, his reputation will be stained, if not tarnished. It is likely that MLB will slap him on the wrist with a light suspension or fine, but if the South Korean government or other powers get involved, it could make the Mitchell Report the second most disgraceful incident in baseball’s recent history.

A very happy National Poetry Month to all those who celebrate! To kick it off, here is one of my favorite April poems: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/47311/the-waste-land
